The ceremony was attended by Vice President CNO Mohamed Al Shaikh from the GCCIA delegation with many senior executives, and General Manager Onur Yücekal, with a high-level management from Çalık Enerji.

The project involves the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of two 90 MVAr shunt reactors. With this project, the first phase of the electricity transmission line of southern Iraq, which is planned to have a capacity of 500 MW, will be realized. The capacity is expected to reach 1800 MW in future phases of the project. The entire financing, along with other related projects, is provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).

Energy efficiency, environmental and operational health and safety regulations will be taken into consideration, and cutting-edge technology will be utilized throughout the project.

The Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) consists of six Gulf countries, namely United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrein, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, which is home to the headquarters. Working on interconnecting power systems through international cooperation, the GCCIA builds a resilient interconnection grid ensuring power security and economic benefits.

We wish to maintain long-lasting cooperation with the GCCIA in our journey based on mutual trust and are confident that our project will be beneficial for our stakeholders.

Thank you,
